    Granville Dem. Party (virtual) August meeting

    Dear Fellow Dems,

    We are less than 80 days away from the General Election!

    Please join us at our monthly meeting on Thurs., August 25 beginning at 6:30 pm. This meeting will be held virtually.* On the agenda will be more details about kicking our activities into high gear — phone banking, canvassing, fundraising, post card mailings, voter registration / verification efforts and support activities for our candidates.

    Events this week:

    Sat., Aug. 20 – Fundraiser – Re-Elect – Rep. Terry Garrison – District 32– In attendance was our next Congressional Representative – District 4 – Sen. Valerie Foushee. You Missed it but you can still send campaign donations to the Garrison campaign.

    TONIGHT, Sun., Aug 21 – Facebook LIVe – Fountain for Granville County Sheriff

    Wed., Aug., Aug 24 @ 7 pm – Zoom – Justice Sam J. Ervin, Judge Gale Adams and Carolyn J. Thompson for Court of Appeals (in collaboration with area Democratic parties)

    Tues., Aug., 30 @ 5:30 pm – Fundraiser with Gov. Roy Cooper – Mary Wills Bode for NC Senate 18.

Candidate filing period for 2019 municipal elections

Passing along this press release from the Granville County Board of Elections:


PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The municipal filing period is set to begin on Friday, July 5, 2019 at noon and end on Friday, July 19, 2019 at noon.  The Board of Elections office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will not close for lunch during the filing period.  The office is located at 208 Wall Street in Oxford.  Local offices up for reelection are as follows:

City of Oxford
Mayor
City Commissioner (3 seats)
Filing fee: $10.00

City of Creedmoor
Mayor
City Commissioner (3 seats)
Filing fee: $10.00

Town of Stem
Mayor
Town Commissioner (3 seats, once of which is an unexpired term)
Filing fee: $5.00

Town of Stovall
Mayor (Seat is not up until 2021)
Town Commissioner (3 seats)
Filing fee: $5.00

Town of Butner
Mayor
Town Council Members (3 seats)
Filing fee: $10.00

Please bring a check to pay your filing fee.   Anyone with questions about filing can contact the Board of Elections office at 919-693-2515.
